Cancelled - McGillycuddys Reeks, Cork

Edit: Due to lack of firm interest the meet leader has made alternative holiday arrangements.  If there are any volunteers to run scribble climbing or walking meets on this weekend then please contact meets@karabiner.org.

---------------

The Macgillycuddy reeks (Na Cruacha Dubha) are collection of some of Eire's highest peeks including all of the peaks above 1,000m. They can be walked in a ~18km horse shoe which includes a light scramble. Climbing is also available in the local area (Gap of Dunloe) for those who'd rather be out on rock.

The current plan is to fly to Cork airport and hire a car (approx return costs: £70-100 for flights, £50 for car hire booking in advance for comparison ferry costs at approx £500 from Liverpool). We will stay in the Killarney Youth Hostel which is close to the reeks.

It might be possible to get a light stroll around a section of Lough Leane on the Friday night then attempt the horse shoe on Saturday. On Sunday head back possibly having a look round Cork or getting another short route on the way back.

Please let me know in advance if you'd like to come in order that I can coordinate cars and youth hostel bookings. As this is outside the UK BMC or other travel insurance should be bought before setting off.
