Ty Powdwr - working meet

Present: John Castick, Dave Wylie, Laura Collier, James Williams, Mark Pilling.

I thoroughly enjoyed bossing people about, I mean coordinating and rallying the troops, for a whole day.

Previously John Castick had already done 3 days of strimming (look out for the very fine work in front of the hut) and Dave W had replaced some missing slates to the walls.

On the Saturday I got some laundry done and some shopping for lunch before joining Dave at the filler tank to prepare it for weeding and general renovation. James had done some magic with some roof slates before concocting a hearty soup. After lunch I joined Mark P painting the upper dorms having scrubbed the walls of as much damp residue as possible. Dave did an excellent job of weeding and sawing out the steel debris at the filler tank and James repointed the holding walls around the remaining steel. The dorms got a general airing, mattresses were taken out for the day and dust and other less likely finds were removed from between and underneath. Before more strimming John cleared the u bends in the ladies and kitchen sinks.

There was much discussion that evening about the qualities of a mountain hut and whether this should include a sleeping space that is dryer and warmer than outside in the winter, and how.

I had an almighty lie in on Sunday so missed James and Mark's departure for a recce of the 3000s at running pace. I did see John before he donned his helmet, visor and earmuffs again, once more to strim. Dave patiently waited for me to eat porridge and make sandwiches, although by the time I had got through my porridge there was no need to stop again for lunch. We shared the leads on 2 Diffs at Clogwyn Blochlwyd, so I have done my annual traditional lead for 2013.
