Lakes Hut 2 Hut 2019 - 75^th Anniversary Joint KMC / FRCC meet – Andy Stratford (Joint member of KMC/FRCC)

A joint KMC / FRCC walking weekend with a few route options for all possible conditions.

2019 is the 75^th anniversary of the founding of the KMC – and we thought it fitting to have a sociable meet with our Kindred Club the FRCC.

This will be a sociable Hut 2 Hut walk departing from Beetham Hut near Hartsop early on Saturday 8^th June, walking to Salving House at Rosthwaite in Borrowdale for Saturday night the 8^th June, then returning to Beetham on Sunday 9th via a different route. There will be a shared dinner catered by a 'support team' at Salving House which will reduce the weight needed to be carried.

Outward Route suggestion 25km / 1650m ascent

Hartsop Above How 580m, Hart Crag 822m, Fairfield 873m, Grisedale Hause 600m, Seat Sandal 736m down Little Tongue Gill to Mill Bridge then crossing the A591 and the path up Helm Crag 355m and along to Calf Crag 537m, Greenup Edge 600m and descent on C2C via Lining Crag to Stonethwaite and Rosthwaite. The walk can be shortened by a few km and a couple of hills missed out if the weather is poor.

Return Route suggestion: a bit less distance and height gain than the previous day but not by much.....

Salving House, over the hill 340m to Watendlath 270m, Blea Tarn 500m, Wythburn 190m, Dunmail Raise 220m, Raise Beck, N Side of Grisedale Tarn 574m, Grisedale Hause 700m, St Sunday Crag 841m, Birks 622m, Arnison Crag 433m, The White Lion Public House return via Crookabeck and Hartsop to Beetham. If legs are tired or weather is poor then a more direct descent down the valleys is possible to miss the last three peaks and reduce ascent.
