Ty Powdwr working meet

Laura C

Attended: John Castick, Dave Wylie, Laura Collier, Dave Shotton, Meirion Tanner, Emily Pitts, Jasmine Pitts, Christine Beeston, John Cox; members. Joined by Frederick Wilberforce Jones and Henry the hoover.

Ty Powdwr had some vigorous dusting and scrubbing this weekend, the kitchen has a shine worthy of sunglasses. A splendid new set of scales donated by Phillipa were put to good use by Emily and Jasmine who catered for the hard working bunch with a delicious lunch which I reckon got us well on the way to our 7 a day. Frederick Wilberforce Jones preferred the bacon left in the trip trap overnight and was escorted off the premises at least 1/4 mile by Meirion.  Andy S's vision for the kitchen has hopefully started to take shape with the hooks Wylie mounted.  We think they look marvellous anyway.  John Cox gave the fridges a thorough going over, coming back to the kitchen later to help Emily "clean the cooker" which was done in so concientious a way, never before known to either John's wife or Emily's mother that it seemed to get quite out of hand and proceedings had to be halted by the hut manager that we might eat that evening.

Shopping for the right screws in B+Q was quite time consuming and it was gone 13.30 when I arrived back and we had lunch.  Cox and Shotton had had time that morning to fill the side of the track that had been washed away with gravel between the sump and Sally's gate.  That afternoon they also managed to remove it all after Sally had complained.  Their toil was not in vain however as they filled up the lowering level of the track on the way up to Sally's buildings.  John Cox offered to fix Sally's broom which had broken in the effort but she was happy enough with their work.

The Gents was smelling sweetly after John Castick and Meirion had finished, cleaning, not applying eau d' cologne.  Christine could be heard chasing off the dormitory dust with Henry as Wylie had sorted out his circuitry.  Sheets and pillowcases were stripped and washed to a good standard by the laundrette who regretted not being able to remove all the stains.  Luckily we found we were a sheet or 2 spare so could discard a couple into Laura's rag bag.  Christine also took on patching up a nicer looking sheet ready for combat with sentient mattresses.  The picture of Christine bunny-hopping while precision aiming the corner of the sheet over a wave of foam will stay with me for a while : ).

Wheelbarrows were pumped up, windows inspected and measured, electricity use calculated and alarms tested.  Unfortunately it wasn't ideal weather for replacing the roof tiles but more fun next time... book the sunshine.
