Club Meeting - Proposed Constitutional Amendment

Emily Pitts

Around 8 years ago, the BMC changed a clause in their third party liability insurance, which altered the cover offered to all BMC affiliated clubs by the insurers. This change affects KMC members, associate members, and all non-members who climb or walk with the club.

At the time and in the intervening years, the club has not re-aligned its constitution or membership procedures, which has resulted in a situation whereby club members may not be protected by the BMC third party liability policy as they would expect, in certain circumstances. Current committee members have been working hard to develop a series of proposals that will meet the needs of our club and members. The proposals will involve changes to membership procedures and therefore the clubs constitution.

Shortly after the next committee meeting on 6thSeptember, you will receive details of these proposals. You are invited to attend a meeting to ask questions about the proposals and respond to concerns you may have. We understand that this may seem like a big change and we want to ensure you have time and opportunity to read, digest and question the proposals. The committee will then reflect on the meeting and produce a motion(s) which we will ask all members to vote on at the AGM in a couple of months.

Meeting date: Monday September 17th, 7-9pm, Manchester Climbing Centre.

Please put this date in your calendar and look out for the proposals in your inbox/mailbox after 6th September.
