KMC Fell race

Heather Driscoll

This year’s annual fell race will be held in the Woodhead area of the Peak District National Park, and it will be the Sunday only.

We will be following the usual format for the race, with walkers setting off at 10.30am and the runners at 11am. All runners / walkers will be given a map of the area and we will give you the grid reference for each checkpoint for you to mark them on you map. You will need to plot your own route between the checkpoints. You will require the ability to navigate, or to at least follow someone who can, to get round the route.

The route starts and finishes from Torside Reservior Car Park (B6105, Glossop SK13 1JF). Note this is a pay and display car park.

As a rough guide, reaching all the checkpoints will require AT LEAST 10 miles and 650m of elevation. We promise the route we’ve chosen is fantastic and it’ll have you exploring the beautiful hills in our backyard.

As always trophies are awarded for 4 categories - the fastest person, the fastest lady, the lottery that is the handicap and best first time effort by a club member.

We will provide refreshments after the race (soup, cake and drinks) but feel free to bring your own picnic. Please bring your own bowl, mug and utensils.

We are also looking for 4 volunteers to man checkpoints during the race. Checkpoint marshalls will need to arrive at the car park at 9:45am to leave at 10am.
