Breuil-Cervinia Aosta Valley *Matterhorn*

Matt W

MEET IS FULLY BOOKED.

Update 02/12/25: the apartment is now full with 5 people intending to go. I have checked for a bigger apartment as an alternative, but it is no longer available. Therefore, if anyone else want to attend, you're welcome to do so, but you will need to book your own accommodation. If you need any information, let me know.

Have you ever wanted to climb the most recognisable mountain in the world, the mighty Matterhorn?

Here's your chance! Join me in Bereuill Cervinia, an Italian village right at the bottom of Matterhorn, or as the locals call it Monte Cervino.

It's located at the end of Aosta Valley and provides cable car acess to Monte Rosa Plateau, with quite a few 4000m alpine peaks. On the other side of the valley lies the Grandes Murailles.

Lots of options to choose, from easy trekking peaks, to more difficult mountaineering challenges.

The area offers lots of hiking options in Aosta Valley, as well as summer skiing on Plateu Rosa glacier.

The prices are generally cheaper than Switzerland or Chamonix.

My main objective for this trip is Matterhorn, via Lion's Ridge. A lot less crowded than Hornli ridge.

I would start at acclimatization on lower, easier peaks and progress. One of the good training routes, before Matterhorn attempt, is Breithorn traverse. A challenge in itself (AD+), that crosses 5 4000m peaks.

But if you have other objectives, you're still welcome to join.

I have reserved a 3 bedroom apartment, 4x single beds, 1x double bed, 2 bathrooms, righ next to the lifts. The cost is around £550 per person for the 15 nights (based on sharing between 6 people, and the currency exchange at the time of payment).

If the interest is high, there's an option to swap the accomodation for a bigger place, within similar prices.

Travel arrangements can be discussed, possibly driving, or flying to Turin or Milan.

Who's with me?
